Glossary of European Health Policy

The National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Funds has published a glossary explaining terms used within the context of European health and social policy that result in either a direct or indirect impact on health policy.

Experience has shown that the German system does not always give European policy the attention it actually deserves given its growing influence on German policy. In particular, European bodies use a language that is geared towards the European system of parliamentary and bureaucratic processes. That system differs from German legislative and executive processes to such a significant extent that regular contact with European-level political issues is often required if it is to be properly understood. The aim of this glossary is therefore to help users navigate quickly and efficiently through the labyrinth of European institutions.
