Europe affects us all!

VS – 05/2024

On the occasion of the upcoming European elections from June 6th to 9th 2024, Gundula Roßbach, President of Deutsche Rentenversicherung Bund has commented on which EU initiatives will be particularly helpful to policyholders what she would like to see during the next five years and why she thinks people should vote.

The President of Deutsche Rentenversicherung Bund, Ms Gundula Roßbach, emphasises the importance of Europe for many policyholders. Europe is everyday life in many respects. One in eight people insured with the German pension insurance scheme has worked abroad and acquired pension entitlements there. Thanks to the European initiative for digital data exchange, thousands of social insurance institutions in Europe are now connected with each other. These policyholders benefit from this in very concrete terms: for example, they only have to submit one pension application from the various statutory pension schemes and receive their pension insurances more quickly.

For Ms Roßbach, it is particularly important for the next term of office that we can continue to exercise our rights in Europe without any problems in the future and that these processes are simplified. The aim is to simplify contact with the authorities, including with the help of new digital processes. A digital wallet for documents, for instance. Comprehensive solutions like these can open up fast and secure access to our services - for everyone, regardless of the country in which they live or work.

Regardless of whether we work, live, go on holiday or draw a pension in the EU: Europe affects us all. The European elections are therefore extremely important for everyone. This is where important decisions are made for our future. Ms Roßbach emphasises that only those who vote will help shape the future.
