The compromises found must not be lost.

UM – 02/2022

The attempt to bring the revision of Regulations (EC) No. 883/2004 and (EC) No. 987/2009 to a conclusion by way of compromise failed again in the trialogue on 22 December last year. It is unclear how things will proceed politically. There is a risk that the good solutions already found for the coordination of cross-border care services or for derived claims in case of illness will not be adopted. A short collection of examples from the German Social Security makes clear how important it is that long-term care insurance benefits are coordinated across borders in the same way as sickness benefits.
